Bachelor of Science in Urban and Regional Planning (BSURP)
The Bachelor of Science degree in Urban and Regional Planning integrates knowledge, skills, values and ethics to educate our future generation of planners. The degree provides courses in core planning knowledge (land use, law, GIS, economic planning, environment) and offers a range of electives that add specialized skills.
Students in the BSURP may apply for the fast track 4+1 program that results in a MURP degree with one additional year of study.
Master of Urban and Regional Planning (MURP)
The MURP degree develops the technical skills, intellectual qualities, and leadership necessary to meet the broad and varied range of problems associated with urban and regional development. We strive to develop basic knowledge of the history and theory of planning, presentation techniques, legal and administrative procedures and their applications, and technical skills in the research and analysis of our cities and communities.
MURP is an accredited two year on campus degree comprising 43 credits with options for completion by thesis or coursework.
Master of International Planning Studies (MIPS)
The Master of International Planning Studies is a one-year online degree program designed for mid-career professionals seeking to advance their knowledge and careers by focusing on contemporary international urban and regional planning issues.
The degree builds on the experience of students and enhances practical skills to better respond to the changing needs of society. The MIPS degree is online and can be completed in one year/three semesters.
Participants are likely to be international practitioners seeking a US degree from a major research and professional university, as well as US based students planning to work in an international context. The MIPS experience will allow participants to accelerate their careers in planning and related fields, or to pivot to international applications of their skills.
βThe job opportunities, but, also, the classes really seem to be focused on developing skills. It has been the connections with the professors and the personal attention that I was able to receive from several different professors. They trust me, and they show it. They take chances on me, and they give me the opportunity to build myself β
